 NEWER DESIGNS - April 2006

Queen of Spades

This one I'm very, very pleased with. I haven't done a checkered design in a long time, but I remain fond of the idea, conceptually. Obviously inspired, at least in part, by the conventional deck of cards, this one calls for some accessories, and some serious personality on the part of the model.

The Chevron

Not related to the gas company of the same name, but rather the shape from which they draw their name.

I can see this one going any one of a couple of different ways. Lots of different colour schemes, three of which I depict here, suggest themselves.

Solar Crest

An ambitious one, this.

Another one where different colour schemes seem to suggest themselves. The concept is, more than anything else, the exploration of a vaguely heraldric sun-and-sword arrangemrnt.

Cross-Zag

A very slick design, and a return to the well for me, as far as inverting colours left-and-right goes. A very crisp, fairly straightforwrds design.

Spiral Trim

This design sketch is a little sketchier than I usually like, but I think the design concept is a sound one.

I envision this one making use of metallic paint for those bits of spiraling trim, such as gold or silver, with darker paints underlying them. .

Swerve

An incomplete design, this, but one which is ripe to be redesigned for a given model.

One of my all-too-rare asymmetrical designs, this one calls for some bright, swirling colours, I think, and a very active sort of energy to the set.

Netting and Checkers

Another ambitius design, this one employs some techniques involving the use of fishnetstockings and an airbrush which I've been eager to try out for some time now.

I think this is a really strong design in terms of being nearly a fashion shoot in theme.

Swirlings

This one actually strikes me as being quite elegant. I would like to see this one in something like royal purple, ivory-white, and metallic gold. This one, more than most of my designs, seems apt to be fitted to nearly any sort of body-shape.

Nineteen

The number is in no way significant unto itself. Indeed, it could be any number which is to your liking. How does seventy-two strike you?

Another asymmetrical design, this one has a very solid construction.

Skullface

Another clothing-ish outfit, I would love to see this one in hallowe'en-style colours; grey, orange, and black, perhaps. I might even see about redesigning it somewhat, to make the face a bit creepier.

Puzzler

A lot of people seem to like this one, for all of its simplicity. There's a number of ways one can go with this design, depending upon what one would like to see on those individual puzzle pieces.

ZigZag

Isn't that the name of some cigarette paper brand or something? Ah, well.

This one was designed for a model who was insecure about the asymmetry of her breasts. Sadly, after I put all the hours of work into this design for her, she then flaked out on me, leaving this design up for grabs.

Asymmetry or no, I think this is a neat little design for almost any body-type that isn't too broad at the hips.

Bar Exam

This one I'm quite proud of. A very well-organized design.

I see this one in my head as having a metallic paint for the details, on a field of dark red. I could even see it as more of a rusted iron theme, if we could get a good industrial backdrop for the photo shoot.

Angles

Another design which was custom-built for a particular model who has since fallen away.

And also yet another one of my designs which lend themselves almost to a fashion shoot.

Camo Blamo

This one was drawn at around the same time as I painted the ShadowDancing set. I was thinking of designs which could make effective use of accesories. This came to mind, with the image of a red beret and camo jacket in mind. The camo pattern in my mind would be the urban grey/black/white pattern, with the rest being scarlet.

Crumplezone

I don't know. People seem to like this one. That's the way it goes sometimes. I didn't care for it all that much myslef, but who am I to argue? A lot of people hate the designs I'm absolutely in love with.

I have no idea what colour scheme to apply here, save that it would need to be high-contrast.

OctoFrog

I don't know. It didn't turn out the way I imagined it, but I like it. And in the end, what else matters?

Prismatic Spray

Frustration!

I designed this one for the model who posed for the Chocobat and Sunrise Blue sets, but she don't like it. What's more, I can't decide on a color scheme. I have it narrowed down to three, which there's mock-ups of down there.

Regardless, it's s good execution of the repeating-pattern technique, and I look forwrds to seeing what color scheme I actually go with.
