Demon Sketches

Thrse are prototype sketches for a project my roomie, Aaron Markham, and I are planning on producing soon. Aaron's friend Nicky wanted to be turned into a demon, and Aaron lacked the creativity to come up with innovative ideas how to do it, so he tossed it to me. I came up with eight ideas, here. If and when the project is done, I'll link the end results here.

All of the images are scaled-down for display purposes. Feel free to save them to disk and view them on your own computer at full size. Or zoom in, if that suits your fancy. I'm really quite indifferent, to be honest. As long as you're paying attention to me, what do I care?

This is actually the last one I did in this series; after I had run out of humanoid concepts. Bizarrely, Aaron liked it a lot. I hope he actually runs with it.	And this is the first one I made. I dig it. It's very simple and straightforwards, but it has a certain elegance. I'd like to see it put against a sunset background, with the sun to the demon's back.	This is the second one I made, and the one I like the most. After Aaron showed this one to Nicky, I asked him what she thought of it. He told me she didn't care for it. When I next saw her, I asked her why she didn't care for it. She said, "I liked it. Aaron said he didn't like it, though. There's no story behind it." Rather than call Aaron on his bullshit, I just told him that if he didn't like it, I would do it myself. He agreed. I'm looking forwards to this one.	A bunch of different designs, complete with design notes. In addition to the large central design, you'll see the prototypes for the first two complete sketches.

This one I like, conceptually, though it lacks something in style. The idea here was to take the classical concept of an 'angel' and twist it around a bit; make it a mindless, predatory beast. almost wolf-like. and made of stone. The part I liked best was the idea of the wing feathers looking like little stalactites.	Bleck. Good idea, lousy execution. It's not really a terrible concept, it's just an uninterresting image in the end. We won't be making use of it.	My second or third favorite sketch; I love the power in that pose, like she's about to rip someone asunder for the temerity of crossing her. I really hope Aaron can do this one justice. I don't know how well this shows up in this scan, but there's smoke rising off of her, like she's been awash in flames quite recently, and has come out of it unscathed.	One of my least favorites. I created it, really, just to appeal to some sort of primitive power fantasy. The naked toad being prodded, I imagined as Aaron. I could see him doing it if Nicky were to ask him to. He's so whipped.
